Nearly a billion gallons of motor oil are used by Americans every year – and 350 million gallons of oil end up polluting the environment because of improper disposal methods. Used motor oil is often contaminated with lead (from gasoline), magnesium, copper, zinc, PCB’s and other heavy metals which are picked up from engines.
