Fish Trap NewLocated at the Bear Creek Bike Path, this artwork consists of a bear set on a tile platform opposite a rock “fish trap.” It is located on the southwest corner of Calle Tecate and Avenida Madero. Coachella Valley artists, Terrie Haynes and Mike Teague of ARTEACH, designed the project and were assisted by sculptor John Branstetter. Students from the La Quinta Boys and Girls Club designed tiles that reflect the flora and fauna of the Coachella Valley. Amistad High School students assisted in the production and installation of the public art piece. “Bear with Fish Trap” depicts the flora, fauna and inhabitants of early La Quinta. Unveiling of the art piece took place on May 31, 2000.
