Credit.org is a non-profit organization formed in 1974 with a mission to provide consumers with the financial education and debt-relief options needed to ensure they are on the right path to financial freedom. Every year, thousands of at-risk adults are victims of abuse and/or neglect. This is unacceptable. Riverside County Adult Protective Services (APS) is here to fight for you and your loved ones.

Starting January 1, 2022, APS will serve clients 60 years of age and older, as well as dependent adults ages 18-59.  They intervene and assist elder or dependent adults to alleviate physical, sexual, and financial abuse, neglect, isolation, abandonment, abduction, and mental suffering.

If you suspect an older or dependent adult is being abused or neglected, call the APS hotline 24-hours, 7-days a week at (800) 491-7123. APS social workers respond directly to reports of elder and dependent adult abuse. Their in-person response system is available any time of day.

The Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program provides rental assistance to help very low income families afford decent, safe, and sanitary rental housing. The Riverside County Housing Authority accepts the application for rental assistance, selects the applicant for admission, and issues the selected family a rental voucher confirming the family’s eligibility for assistance.

Registration for the Section 8 program must be completed ONLINE.

1. Family applies through the Riverside County Housing Authority website

2. Once approved, the family finds a rental unit suitable to the family's needs

3. Landlord must agree to the Section 8 program

4. Rental unit must meet acceptable standards

5. Family pays up to 30% of monthly income for rent

6. Section 8 housing voucher pays the rest

75% of the families in the program will be at or below 30% of the area median income (extremely low income), and 25% of the families will be between 30% and 50% of the area median income (very low income). See the income tables on the Income Limits page.

United Lift is a rent and utility assistance program for eligible Riverside County residents supported by the County of Riverside and administered by the non-profit organizations Inland SoCal United Way and Lift to Rise. Launched in the summer of 2020, the United Lift program provides aid to Riverside County families and residents financially impacted by COVID-19 through direct rental and utility assistance.

United Lift provides up to 12 months of unpaid rent and utilities - plus an additional 3 months of future rental payments. This program is available to tenants and landlords. The combined household’s income must be at or below 80% of the area median income. See the income tables on the Income Limits page.

Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) is the regional planning agency coordinating government services in the Coachella Valley. CVAG spearheads the Coachella Valley Housing First program to help people who are homeless or on the verge of becoming homeless. The program is based on the philosophy that if someone has a stable housing situation, they can focus their attention on issues like maintaining employment, addressing addiction, or keeping their family together. This program provides long-term solutions for clients by working to get them into a permanent housing destination and includes rapid re-housing, homelessness prevention, and special needs services.

Habitat for Humanity of the Coachella Valley is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian ministry founded on the conviction that every man, woman, and child should have a decent, safe, and affordable place to live. Habitat for Humanity builds with people in need regardless of race or religion, and also welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds.

In 2021, they built two homes and completed repairs on 21 homes in the Coachella Valley. Through Emergency Household Needs Assistance, they funded or procured donations of household repairs, including air conditioning, plumbing, appliances, furniture, and other vital needs for 65 individuals. They also provided wellness checks and service linkages to over 80 clients.
