-
HHW materials must be stored in a secure location prior to pick-up. Do not leave materials at curbside.
-
HHW materials must be presented for collection in containers that are spill-proof, leak-proof, and labeled with the contents.
-
The resident, or other responsible adult, must be present at the time of collection. If not available to be present, the HHW materials may be placed at a side gate or secure area. Make sure to inform Burrtec where this secure area is prior to collection. Materials will not be accepted at curbside.
-
Prior to acceptance, a Burrtec employee will inspect the materials.
-
Total amount of HHW materials from a residence shall not exceed 15 gallons or 220 lbs per state regulations.
-
The maximum number of HHW collections at any individual residence is four (4) per calendar year.
Battery Requirements:
-
Collect your used batteries of varying sizes and power levels. Acceptable batteries include most alkaline and lithium-ion types such as AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, Button Cell, Laptop, Cell Phone, Key Fob, Watch, etc. Verify with Burrtec that your batteries are acceptable when reserving your HHW collection date.
-
Tape both terminal ends of your batteries. Scotch, masking, duct, or electrical tape are fine.
-
Place taped batteries in a clear, Ziploc-style bag that can be sealed. Ensure there is no water or other liquid in the bag.
-
Call or email Burrtec to schedule a HHW collection date.
-
Batteries can be collected with other HHW materials on the same collection date.
-
Pro Tip: Tape your battery ends after replacing them with new batteries and store in a secure location. This will save lots of time rather than taping all used batteries at once during the day of collection.
